HISTORY, POLICY, AND WARRANTIES

Our company founders James and Beulah Cox started James Cox Saddlery in 1945.
James bought and sold horses and cattle which eventually led to equipment. He started out buying and selling used work harness in London, Kentucky and eventually sub-contracted with a harness maker to manufacture new harness and accessories. We have some of the best saddlemakers in the world working for us. What James felt was good business still holds true today...to give good service, competitive prices, and quality made merchandise. Many companies can give one or the other, we feel they all go hand in hand. We'll do our best to maintain this standard. In Western' s early days, saddles built by Western had been selected by the WAEMA for the annual Bootstrapper Award given to Cal Farley' s Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas; by International Rodeo Management, Inc., as the official Miss Rodeo America Saddle in 1974 and 1975; by the Wyoming State Fair; the Big 4 Rodeo Promotions by Equitable Savings, Portland, Oregon, in '74 and '75; and as a part of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company' s Winston Rodeo Awards program. Western Saddlery was acquired by Outdoor Sports Co., who also purchased the Old BIGHORN SADDLE CO. The companies were closed and the Western Saddlery BIG 'W' Brand TM, lied dormant for many years. While these events played out, Charles Cox, and Del Cox started in the business in the late 60' s and early 70' s. The tradition continued through the 80' s when Debbie Cox, then James Cox joined in their families footsteps. Each family member has contributed through the years and groomed each new successor to the business. It was in the 80' s that we saw the need for our own brand; we designed the Circle 'C' design and trademark for this purpose. We also started importing items that we could not find here in the states such as miniature bits, etc. Our next step was manufacturing, not just contract manufacturing but in house manufacturing. We manufacture or are involved in manufacturing saddlepads, nylon goods, and many saddles and leather goods that we sell.

The 90's brought many changes, we decided to bring back one of the original old saddle brands, and that's when Western Saddlery was resurrected.

Our Circle 'C' line became our economy and medium priced saddles, with Western being our top of the line. The main difference between the two brands is that all of our Big 'W' Western Saddles are hand tooled and, as with all our brands, we use the best materials for the saddles intended use.

About this time we also purchased all the remaining equipment from a 129 year old Cincinnati, Ohio based luggage and case company (originally this company was called Western Tray and Case Co.). We manufactured trunk handles, etc. from those product lines. We are also making hand tooled brief case covers. It was about this time in 1995 that we expanded our in-house saddle manufacturing of BuenaVista Saddles, Big 'W' Stock Saddles tm , MiniHand Saddles, and Miniature Saddles.

With the onset of the new millennium came several new and resurrected brands. We split our company into two separate divisions. James Cox Saddlery is the retail company. Western Saddlery and Leather was the wholesale. In 2002 we purchased the Moser Leather name from the former CALDWELL/MOSER Tannery Leather Co. We purchased the formulas and much of the equipment to tan and finish leather. We started tanning and finishing leather ourselves in our own factories and joint ventures with others. We changed our name to just Moser Leather in early 2005 and decided to downsize our company and concentrate on the core leather tanning operation and items made out of our leathers. Through the years we had acquired other operations such as a glove manufacturing company, a sole dipping operation, Customade Leather Laces (a Division of Wilson Leather), and others. We gleaned what we needed from each of these operations and then decided to sell our glove manufacturing division to an Amish Company called DnR Distributing of Marion, Michigan. We sold our saddle pad manufacturing department to his brother Harley Yoder who calls his company Badger Pad and Tack and is located in Windsor, Missouri. The labor is more economical than what we were paying in our plant and it was necessary due to foreign competition. This way we can still keep jobs here in the USA. We distribute for both of these companies. We also sold the distribution rights to Circle ‘C’ and Big ‘W’ Western Saddlery Saddles to a company in Oregon called Wholesale Saddle Co. We are no longer making those lines of saddles. We brought back the old 'Buford Saddle' Brand and were still making 'Monterey Makers Brand' of saddles and tack when we sold those lines to Bricker Tack of Portland, Indiana in January of 2006. Even though the saddle line is smaller now, it does cover the needs of most customers.  These saddles are made here in the US and in Mexico and can still be bought through Chad Bricker of Bricker Tack at 419-942-2365.  Their web site is linked to ours and shows the full line we were once carrying.  He is also distributing most of the tack accessories that we were.  Their site is www.westernsaddleryandtanningco.com.  We offer a few of the saddles mostly for western décor purposes (they are still functional) but what we are concentrating on the most now is leather.  Tanning and finishing of the leather and making things out of it.  We make lots of leather straps goods and saddle and bridle parts and rider accessories here in our plant in Hamilton.  We cut parts for various industries and have embossing ability.  We offer Tandy Leather Products, Tippman Machines, C.S. Osborne Tools and Fiebings Products.  We also have a nice line of western belts and Western Décor items for your home or shop. We offer a monthly saddle and tack auction where other vendors come in and sell their goods as well as what we sell. We offer this auction service to our western shops too. If you cannot attend our sales to purchase you are more than welcome to send any items you would like to thin down or dispose of for us to sell for you. We have a full range of cutting edge technology products to overstock or discontinued items that we sell at these auctions. We have a very competitive commission rate. We can purchase items for you and bid on them competitively for you up to the amount you tell us to spend. Call for more information.

Our western saddlery , tack and riding accessories are crafted in traditions of quality construction and appearance, in functional designs proven by professional horseman in many performance events.

We service what we sell and we have a good testing forum for our products through sales in our retail store. We learn how to make our products by fixing our competitors mistakes!

All prices, as listed, are FOB Hamilton, Ohio. ALL PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE and are dependent upon prevailing prices at the time of shipment.

We are now accepting credit card payment as listed above. For those of you requesting an open account, this may be a good alternative for you, as your credit card company can extend better terms (over 30 days) than we can. This is no reflection on you as a credit worthy customer. We only offer discounts to cash, COD, credit card, or net 10 day payments on accounts. Discounts can be as high as 10%. Over 10 days and you pay the regular price with no discount allowed.

Should any failure to conform to this warranty become apparent during a period of thirty (30) days after date of sale, seller shall, upon prompt, written notice and compliance by the customer with such instructions as it shall give with respect to the return of defective products, correct such non-conformity by repairs or replacement of the defective part or parts. Moser Leather further warrants to the original buyer only Saddles that are listed as having a 5 year warranty only on the listing on the web.  Saddles with this listing constructed on a wood tree, hide covered tree, fiberglass covered tree or Ralide Tree, that such tree, for a period of five (5) years, will not break or split, nor will the horn pull out so long as the saddle is used on a horse in a reasonable manner and under normal situations and conditions. this warranty covers the saddle tree only. Normal replacement items, such as billets, tie straps, cinches and saddle parts are not covered by the five (5) year tree warranty. For any saddle tree developing such defects (that is sold with a listing as a 5 year guaranteed tree) within the warranty period, Moser Leather will repair or replace such tree, at its sole option, and may charge buyer for the labor involved.

Saddle Trees themselves sold to saddlemakers have a 5 year guarantree on the tree itself and this warranty is for them specifically and not their customer.  We will repair or replace the tree at their option at no charge to the saddlemaker who bought the tree from us to begin with for a period not to exceed 5 years from the purchase of the saddletree from Moser Leather.

Dealers in Moser Leather equipment are not authorized to make replacement, adjustments, or any additional representations or warranties in connection with the sale of Moser Leather products.
